Community Shred Day

Protect What Matters. Free, Secure, On-Site Document Shredding.

Saturday, May 16 | 9 a.m. - Noon
10727 E. 51st Street, Tulsa
Front Parking Lot

Identity theft and fraud often begin with information taken from discarded documents. Community Shred Day makes it easy to securely dispose of old financial statements, tax records and personal paperwork. Bring your documents to Security Bank to shred on-site so you can watch and leave with peace of mind.

While you are here, stop by the lemonade stand for a free drink. We're proud to partner with the Lemon-Aid Projecta nonprofit empowering kids of all ages to make a difference in their community by turning a simple lemonade stand into a powerful fundraising tool for change. Get a preview of their citywide Lemon-Aid stands, taking place Labor Day Weekend, benefiting Tulsa Changemakers.

Plan Your Visit

Start gathering old paperwork at home and the office. Remove all items that will damage the shredder and are hazardous materials. See below for details.

What to Bring

Shred These Items

  • Old bank statements, pay stubs, and investment documents
  • Paid utility, credit card, and medical bills
  • Employee records
  • Expired IDs and insurance policies
  • Old tax documents (10+ years)
  • Voided or canceled checks
  • Documents with signatures (leases, contracts, letters)
  • Prescription labels

Tip: Read a general guide for how long to keep records and when it is safe to purge them.

Never Shred

  • Birth certificates, social security cards
  • Marriage or divorce documents
  • Property deeds
  • Adoption paperwork

Tip: Keep permanent records safely locked in a file cabinet or in a bank safe deposit box.

Before You Arrive

Remove items that will damage the shredder and slow down the line.

  • Binders and hardcovers
  • Metal anything
  • Electronic media or electrical waste
  • Trash
  • Plastic or other recyclables (we can toss recyclables - no glass - in our recycle bin, but separate it from your shredding items)
  • Cardboard (we can toss this in our recycle bin, but separate it from your shredding items)
  • Wet, burnt or otherwise contaminated paper
  • Batteries
